Help Stop Cuts to Long Beach Libraries

Mayor Bob Foster and City Manager Pat West have proposed cuts to library services in Long Beach in this budget.

Particularly serious is the continued cut in the library services materials budget -- which means new books and materials cannot be purchased. This budget has been reduced severely for the past 5 years.

Also in the 2012 budget is a proposal to turn three branches -- Alamitos, Brewitt and Bach (pictured) -- into "reading rooms." Not sure who thought up this new concept of downsizing city services.

Sign on to the petition to stop these cuts and come to City Hall on Tuesday, August 16 at 3pm as the Council begins discussing these cuts to services.

Also stop by these branches and tell the librarians that you support them. We cannot cut these important services.
